Setting a Video to Expire (South Africa Only)

Introduction

Setting up a video to expire does 2 things.

  1. It makes a video expire after the set date has passed.
  2. Makes the expiry date show on the video page next to the published date.

Instructions

  • First you need to create, tag, and publish a video as you would normally. You can use this guide to help you do so Creating a Video Record.
  • Next you need to set a player for the video to use so that we can set an expiry date for it.
  • To keep all the reporting the same it's best to use the normal site player, in this case for South Africa it's called "Asset TV South Africa".
  • Setting the Player and Expiry Date:
    • Edit the video.
    • Go to the Player tab further down the page.
    • Add a new player subscription.
    • Select the "Asset TV South Africa" player.
    • Set the start and end date for the video for that player.
    • Make sure it's the first one in the list or the expiry date will not show.
  • Save the video record.
  • Check to make sure the expiry date is shown on the video page.
  • Done.

Tip

Make sure to set this expiring player as the FIRST in the list. Otherwise, it will not show the expiry date on the video page!
