Setting up a Secure Channel
Introduction
Secure channels can either be set up using a webform for access, or a list of pre-approved users. This allows us to limit access to more sensitive content to a select list, or seek additional approval/information from users, i.e. additional permissions to share data with sponsors.
Pre-approved users Method
This method requires a list of user email addresses. Users will need to be registered for the site to access the channel, but you can pre-emptively input unregistered emails to the secure channel list.
- Edit the channel and select the "Security" tab
- Check the "Secured Channel" option
- Add the email addresses of any users who will require access to the "Security Emails" field
- Enter multiple emails seperated only by a comma - no spaces or line breaks!!
- The list should end with a comma
- Save the Channel
Warning
The format for the email address needs to be as follows:
user@email.com,user2@email.com,user3@email.com,
Note, there are no spaces before or after the commas!
Webform Method
- Create a new webform - select Content > Add Content > Webform from the admin menu
- Name the form and save
- Click to edit the created webform and select the "Webform" tab at the top of the edit page
- Creat the form by entering the questions you wish to ask
- You can add ‘hidden’ questions to pull information from a logged-in user's profile i.e. email, name, company etc.
- Finalise the form by clicking on the ‘Form Settings’ tab
- Set the form to not redirect to any confirmation message. This ensures are taken to the channel once the form is completed. You can also set a limit on how often users can submit the form - by setting this to 1 we will record their consent, and they’ll never be prompted to complete the form again.
- Once the webform has been set up it can be selected in the "Security Form" dropdown on the channel page Security tab
- Once saved the form is now in place. A list of people who have completed the form can then be found under the webform submissions page or by editing the form and selecting the "Results" tab. This information can then be used to create MI specific to those users.
